05/01/2002 Archived Entry: "How To Be a Digital DJ"

Jesse Gearhart has written a page on how to be a digital DJ (referring to DJ'ing for swing dancing). "There are number of excuses people give for DJing this way. I say excuses because they are lazy reasons, such as 'Don’t want to lug around CDs', or 'It's less equipment', or my all time favorite 'I can just put on a play list and leave it'. All of these are conveniences for sure, but I really do think they are Lazy. Having said all that, I have to admit that I am guilty of using all three of these excuses. But let's take each one, and how to balance the laziness issue with proper DJing." Extensive, with sections on pitfalls, hardware, and software. I like the pictures of Jesse's external hard drive in a cool leather briefcase!

There's a long discussion thread inspired by this article on Jive Junction, the Socal Swing forum. Sound geeks, ahoy!
