I've been having a Monty Python's Life of Brian orgy the past few days, viewing a Criterion DVD I checked out from the library. What richness! Two separate commentary tracks, deleted scenes also with commentary, and a fifty minute behind the scenes BBC documentary made during the filming of the movie, in 1979. I've been a Python fan since their first American broadcasts, so I truly enjoyed this.

Ha! Phil, I guess it really wasn't too orgiastic since I was the only one here, but I did watch the movie one evening, then the movie with Terry Jones, Terry Gilliam and Eric Idle commentary the next, then with John Cleese and Michael Palin comments the evening after that! Saturday morning I watched the included documentary and listened to the radio ads. That's a lot of Python!

eeeewww! You have me shuddering at the pornographic image of an orgy in the style of Life of Brian. That's like Monty Python directing Caligula; my brain winces at the idea.

The documentary on the DVD (filmed in 1979) talked a lot about how the Pythons weren't working together often. I wish they'd been able to keep it together a bit longer -- I'd have liked to see more and better python movies!

I love Life of Brian! Interestingly enough, Life of Brian is supposed to be very popular in Britain, while The Holy Grail is more popular in the US. Maybe we're meant to be British!
