01/02/2003 Archived Entry: "The Date in Your Checkbook"
Around the first of the year (or maybe December 31?) longtime Washington Post columnist Bill Gold used to give his readers the following tip (my paraphrase): Take out your checkbook and write the new year in the date area for every check there. By the time you've used them up, you'll be used to writing "03" and you won't have to correct or void any checks!

and sometimes you just have to say "why didn't I think of that". Duh, all of these years of voiding with errors and it's that simple.
