04/22/2003 Archived Entry: "KUOW, Bring Back TOTN!"
I'd be glad to "vote with my dollars" at KUOW (pledge drive right now) if I had a bit of money. But I certainly won't do it until they bring back Talk of the Nation instead of To the Point and random BBC news during the 11 AM to 1 PM hours. Sheesh! I talked about a rumor they were doing to be dropping TOTN back in February, but it was denied at that time. I sent email to the station the other week, asking when TOTN would be returning to the schedule (since the "breaking news" excuse is now longer valid) and got a mealymouthed answer from Jeff Hansen, the program director: "I'm not sure how long this pattern will continue."

yikes! I'm not sure how long I can put up with this. I already miss talk of the nation. I was hoping it was just a brief change for the pledge drive.

I like both To the Point and the BBC News, but I agree Talk of the Nation is an outstanding show. I can't listen to it these days, but on those rare day-off occasions when I'm able to, it never fails to impress.

More info about NPR's quest to destroy pirate radio

I don't support NPR due to their former quasi facist linking policy and their asking the FCC for tougher penalties for pirate radio station.
