For the first time in many years, I didn't get a full series pass to SIFF (Seattle International Film Festival) this year. I just can't afford it! I'll probably see a few festival movies here and there, though. Mike Whybark has laid out his festival plan. A midnight showing of Bruce Campbell's Bubba Ho-tep! "Jack, (Ossie Davis - no, really, Ossie Davis) believing himslf to be Jack Kennedy, teams up with an elderly Elvis Presley (a fellow resident of the nursing home) to put the hurt on an 'evil Egyptian entity'. I mean, how can you effin’ lose?"
If you are into film and the festival, you really need to be on the Fool Serious list!

I might do some ushering. The price of a few movies isn't so bad, though. I'll just the freedom the Full Series brings, of not having to decide ahead of time what I should see!

I'm not sure what your daytime availability is, but have you thought about volunteering as a way to get SIFF tickets? The last time I was impecunious, I volunteered as an usher, and actually I found it to be almost too easy--there are a few minutes work before the show (and do SIFF attendees need help to find seats? rarely), then you sit through the movie, then you do a few more minutes cleanup, etc. For every three hours you work (and the movie-watching time counts!), you get a ticket for another movie. (Of course, the rules might've changed since then.) I even ushered the Silent Festival, which felt like a loophole somehow!
