07/31/2003 Archived Entry: "NipponDaze"

After a month's hiatus NipponDaze is updating again. "Before we had left, my best friend at the software company where I had just quit work had said, 'Wow. I really admire you doing something like this at your stage in life.' I just looked at her blankly. I was 33, a divorced mother with a son in the fifth grade. I was just starting to get comfortable in my own condo, and in my chosen career as a writer of software documentation. For me, my life was just beginning. But to my coworkers, fresh out of college, I was already over the hill."

I don't know if she's going to post entries from exactly fourteen years ago, Pepys-stylee, but it looks like it.

Actually, the concept of nipponDAZE has always been a look back--and I've been interspersing entries from the past since the blog's inception. But this week the date has cycled around again to the anniversary of the beginning, so I begin again. (The beginning is a little different every cycle, though. Time changes things, or my perspective of things, anyway.)

Life was winding down on nipponDAZE last month, but you can check ut what's happening in the present at its child site Hajimemashou.
