01/27/2004 Entry: "Chuq on Viral Marketing"

Chuq Von Rospach has a great post about viral marketing in action, riffing off a Church of the Customer story about how seeing a plasma TV in a hotel room created a strong desire to buy one. "The reason I bring this up is yesterday, I was watching a TV show that documented just this in action: a company has a product. One key person sees the product and chooses to buy on to use in their business; and that one sale drove thousands of sales and a company from a tiny shop to the major force in a new industry. the company? The Zamboni Ice Resurfacing company. The timeframe? the late 40's. And the key person? Ice skater Sonja Henne." Sonja Henie bio here.
