02/09/2004 Entry: "Potlatch 13 February 27"

My favorite science fiction convention, Potlatch, is happening at the end of this month, February 27, 28, and 29, here in Seattle. (I'm the web person and in charge of the hospitality area or consuite.) It's a great con, very friendly -- no "guests", everyone pays for their membership. The con is small (about 150 members), literary-oriented, and has a fannish flavor. Membership is 40 dollars until February 14 (or until Feb. 20 via paypal), 50 dollars at the door. Our Book of Honor is John Brunner's The Shockwave Rider, so that will be featured in the programming along with other topics. Program items include

There's a brunch banquet on Sunday (reserve your ticket now), a special presentation about the new Experience Science Fiction Museum that will open next summer, and an auction to benefit Clarion West. What can I say to convince you? If you are a science fiction reader but haven't been to a con, this would be a great one to start with. If you've been to a bunch of cons, this is one that is friendly, lively, and we'll actually be talking about science fiction (oh, good dealers room, too). I'd love to answer any questions you might have.
