02/25/2004 Archived Entry: "Geek Dinner Report"

We had a good time at Crossroads Mall last night! The occasion was a geek dinner instigated by Robert Scoble in honor of Australian Mick Stanic (aka Splatt). Also there: Korby, Raymond, Jeannie, JP Stewart, Annette, John Porcaro, and Jack and me. Lots of good talk about social software, the future of weblogs, and knitting (Raymond was knitting). Jack warned Mick about the phenomenon of visiting Seattle three times then looking for a house. Annette is an MS marketing manager and has a livejournal, but she didn't want to tell us the URL.

At one point I borrowed Jeannie's laptop and changed her nick in IRC (#joiito, natch) to be me. This must seem to others in the channel to be like Agent Smith in the Matrix borrowing other bodies and morphing!

Ken Levy had the coolest gadget there! A Toshiba Windows CE PDA with cool chrome buttons and great resolution - 640 x 480!

when the screen is about 4 inches by 6 inches, it's impressive!

It's weird to think about 640x480 being _great_ resolution. :-)
