06/13/2004 Archived Entry: "Anon-O-Con Report"

I went down to the waterfront yesterday afternoon for Pop's Anon-0-Con weblog gathering, and had fun! Those in attendance: Julie Leung, Ted Leung, Michael "Eclecticism" Hanscome and his friend Prairie, Chip of Binary Circumstances, The Receptionista, Staci of Daymented, Mike of Dumb Blogs Have More Fun (ha! I heard this as dumb blondes due to the noise on the street), and Richard of Tikun Olam. There was also one other guy who had been to the weblog meetup a few months before, but I've now forgotten his name!

Along with the general chit-chat, Staci, Receptionista and I were at a side table having soup when I learned that Receptionista hadn't come to the monthly meetup for fear that only tech topics would be discussed. Staci and I made it clear that such was not at all the case!

The weather was cool and damp, and the noise made it hard to talk (both the traffic noise, and the constant babble from the Argosy Tours barker/announcer girls), but we had fun anyway. I sampled the Seattle Seafood Chowder from Steamers and liked it very much! Plus, I stopped at the World Spice Merchants on the way home and replenished our supply of Smoky BBQ rub. I also bought a new seasoned salt to try, Svaneti!

I agree it was fun and also that the noise made talking difficult.

I enjoyed the tech talk like comparing notes on TypePad, etc.

Next time, the weather gods should be given a more specific set of instructions on their invitation; sun and warmth.

Yes it was way too LOUD!!! Next time let's be sure to find a place outdoors but relatively quiet.

It also was lots of fun. If anyone wants to be invited to the next one, please send me an e mail.

Myk O'Leary was also there - his blog is Life, it is a travesty....

Thanks, Anita, for the roundup. Sorry we had to dash to the boat. It was fun!
