09/08/2004 Entry: "September Weblog Meetup"

Wednesday, September 15, at 7 pm, it's the Seattle Weblog Meetup! This is the first meetup done using the Meetup 3.0 system -- no more voting (but we could have a poll if you like). We'll be meeting at Ralph's Grocery and Deli, 2035 4th Ave across from the Cinerama theater in Belltown. There's food and beverages available, and free wi-fi!

Please do RSVP at the Meetup.com site. If you aren't a member (it's free) you can still join us at the meetup, but if you join you'll be able to get word on any last-minute changes (these are rare).

Next month I'd like to do an east side meetup in addition to the regular gathering, probably during the first week of October. Lots of folks with weblogs over there, I know! Also, if there are other events happening I can add them to the calendar, like a Geek Dinner perhaps.

Looks like I won't be coming after all. Nasty cold coming on and don't want to spread it around and I just don't feel too social either. Drat.

that picture of me with the flowers is one I took of myself, with some flowers from Jack for our first Valentine's Day. there's a larger version in that entry, with an even larger one if you click on it.

Jake, you'll be missed!

Julie, I'll see about scheduling extra events at different times, though the regular meetup in Seattle will probably stay at the time it's at. It would help if you signed up at meetup.com and vote in the polls I've posted there.

Alas I am tired and sore from working on the primary elections yesterday and so I will not be able to make it.

Sorry and have a good one.

I wish we could make it to this meetup - I'm especially sorry to miss all the other kids, as ours are 2, 4 and 6 and would have fun playing! - but we are just back from vacation and catching up. I also want to put in a vote-of-sorts for additional meetups. Wednesdays and especially the third one of the month are difficult for us. We might be able to make other meetups or get-togethers, even on the Eastside, if there were more per month, and on other days of the week. Thanks again, Anita, for all you do. I hope we can make it to another one sometime...and I hope you all have a blast! :-)
P.S. Anita- I like the picture of you on the meetup site :-) I notice that our family appears in the meetup site photos too...

Jack,

Dave linked to me twice in the past two days and I didn't see a big leap in bandwidth usage. (knockOnWood)

Hmmm... Apparently Dave Winer has noticed the weblog meetup, but he linked to meetups.com and not here. That is a good thing, from a bandwidth utilization point of view I guess.

I RSVP'd at meetup.com. It wasn't as big a pain as it first appeared. whineMode=off. :)

So there you go. See you there...

Jon, it's almost certain we'll have our grandchild there with us, so feel free to bring your kids.

Mary Kay, I hope you make it!

I think I'll be there -- assuming I don't forget again. Jordin is out of town all week so I'm sort of at loose ends,

Hi, Scott!

I hope you'll still come to the meetup even if you don't go through meetup.com. The low RSVP rate is worrying me, I confess! Do send meetup.com an email or post in the general discussion forum to give feedback on the recent changes, and let me know of any issues relating to our weblog meetup

Tara of burningpaper.net lives on the eastside, and there are others who are non-ms, I'm sure. I hope you'll attend such a group!

eh, meetup.com has reached my "too much hassle" limit. Thank god seablogs.hellbent.org still lists the meetup time.

Bleh, an eastside meetup would just be all softies. ;) How boring, who wants to hear about work at Microsoft all the time with all the sidelong glances at the non-softies, wondering if they are saying too much or breaking an NDA.

I wasn't planning on a weekend thing but if you wanted to arrange one, I could add it to the calendar. I'm thinking of joining the eastside group and volunteering to be organizer there as well.

If the Eastside meet ups were on the weekends we'd probably go. Many's the time we've wandered that way for lunch on a Saturday.

Will you be starting a separate list for a second group?
