Back to "Normal"

The way a child discovers the world constantly replicates the way science began. You start to notice what's around you, and you get very curious about how things work. How things interrelate. It's as simple as seeing a bug that intrigues you. You want to know where it goes at night; who its friends are; what it eats.

As I write, I am listening to the BBC news hour on National Public Radio. My sister calls this "Bad News around the World Hour", and it really can be depressing to hear about all the world problems. "Floods, famines, massacres. And now sport."

Some satisfying detective work today. There is an internal web site that we have some problems with, and we need to figure out what things are their problems and which are our bugs. I'll be visiting them tomorrow, since part of my current assignment is to help internal and external sites work with IE4, and this site is what they call "mission critical."

Tomorrow I am hosting a costume workparty for the Cacophony presence in the solstice parade. I know Jayson will be there, but no one else has called yet. I am consciously staying offline so the phone will be free! Oh well, even if he and I are the only ones, we'll get some good work done. I really hope this Trollsylvanian Heritage Society thing will have some legs to it. It could be developed in a lot of ways, depending on what struck our fancy.

So this evening was the first time in four weeks that I have watched Seinfeld at seven thirty. That show is truly a classic. Even if, as tonight, there were elements in the story that I didn't think were so great, there were still hilarious moments. The episode was The Maestro, and I really liked the parts about Tuscany, but George and the security guard weren't as funny to me. Hah! when searching Bookshelf for the word "Seinfeld", the suggested replacements were "sniffled" or "sniveled."
