A Tool-using Animal

The travel writer seeks the world we have lost -- the lost valleys of the imagination.

Today I found a really neat tool at work. I am a great one for tools in the software sense: little apps and utilities that do just what you want. We have a central internal website where people are encouraged to list the tools, macros, and gadgets they develop, so people don't always have to reinvent the wheel. I also check http://www.windows95.com/ almost every day, to see what's new. What I found today was an app that interfaces with the bug database we use, and creates a web page that list the bugs according to whatever query you have devised. Yeah!

Today was the first time I tried using the expedia web site (http://expedia.msn.com/ ). It's really handy! Then I decided to get my ticket through an agent (because websites don't take checks), so I looked for travel agents near work on yahoo's yellow pages. I picked a likely one and got its location on a map. The web is great!

I started catching up with mainstream movies by going to see The Lost World. I won't say it was disappointing, since my expectations weren't that high, and it isn't really sequelitis that is wrong with it. It's just hard for it to be as surprising as the first one. They really got their money's worth out of the T-Rex heads!
