Digressions are Sunshine

If I were to wish for anything, I should not wish for wealth and power, but for the passionate sense of the potential, for the eye which, ever young and ardent, sees the possible. Pleasure disappoints, possibility never. And what wine is so sparkling, what so fragrant, what so intoxicating, as possibility!

Last night I played with Image Composer and some new fonts. Maybe I'll treat myself to Fractal Design Painter; I used to use Sketcher (similar to Painter but just gray-scale) and I really enjoyed it. Now that I have a working graphics tablet it really would be fun! But how to justify something used just for frivolous reasons? Even if I decided to spend that much on fun computer stuff, would it be the best use of my money? Maybe I should get a digital camera or a scanner instead?

As my dental work experience draws nearer, I find myself telling my friends about it more and more, seeking comfort and reassurance and strokes. I'm really not too worried about it, but I wish I'd decided to do it later in the summer. When I made the appointment we weren't sure if the temporary filling would last, so I picked an appointment time that came relatively soon. The consequence is that I'll miss a Clarion party (again!) which I don't want to do.

Suzy McKee Charnas, this week's Clarion teacher, read part of a young adult novel, The World of Kevin Malone. It was really good! The story takes place in a fantasy landscape that the "hero" has modeled after Central Park . She talked about her own childhood in New York, and how great that park is. I didn't have a chance to ask her if she has visited our own Olmstead-designed park in Seattle, Volunteer Park. It's built in a much smaller scale, but is still very nice.

Afterwards I made sure that my buddy Luke met up with Ceej, since I knew they'd been wanting to touch base. A former Clarion student lent Ceej a CD she had expressed a wish for in her journal. She said to me, "If there is anything you'd like to have, just ask for it in your journal!" So what I'd like is:

Hmmm. We'll see if that works!
