Opiates

Tobacco and opium have broad backs, and will cheerfully carry the load of armies, if you choose to make them pay high for such joy as they give and such harm as they do.

Shades of the Gus! This is the first entry that I have written under the influence of drugs. One of my teeth is starting to bother me again, damn it! (The timing is most inconvenient, with Orycon this weekend.) So I pulled out some of the codeine-laced acetaminophin that I didn't take when I had my wisdom teeth removed. It hasn't really taken effect yet, I think.

I went today on a site visit with the usability folks. The person we were seeing is a woman who lives in the country north of Seattle. She sells baskets and home decor items, one of those multi-level marketing things. This woman had a great personality, as I think you must to be successful in a job like that. She was very bubbly and cheerful.

The format of the visit is for us to find out about how she uses her computer, then have her install our product. We'll be back next week to see what she has discovered about IE4 on her own, and maybe give her some pointers. Then a third visit later on.

It was fun riding in the car with G---, the usability person and another team member (a developer). They both happen to be from England, and were comparing their expatriate experiences. We drove over the country roads. G--- said the scenery was much more picturesque than some other site trips she's taken.
