Lindy BasicsAll they know is that it feels good to swing to way-out body-rhythms instead of dragassing across the dance floor like zombies to the dead beat of mind-smothered Mickey Mouse music. Thursday, February 5, 1998 I had dinner at my sister's house tonight. My nephew J--- has been really pleased with the software presents I bought him for his birthday. The only drawback is that B----, his younger brother, wants to play with Math Blaster, too. B---- is really too young for it, so he gets frustrated. So I told my sister where I bought the programs, Barnes and Noble at University Village. As I suspected, she hadn't thought of going there for software, but it is a store that would be easy for her to get to. She may try and get a math program designed for a younger age group from the same company.
Next on the agenda was my lindy hop class. I must say, Cat Daddy Chris looks great in his striped trousers, suspenders, and red-and-black two toned shoes. (I took some pictures before class, but the room was too dark. Digital image processing can only go so far!) He and Jen have done a great job teaching a very large class; I've made good progress on the lindy. Next Thursday is the last class in this session, and they will have Monty Banks and the High Rollers at the dance after class. Fun! My plans for the next session after that are still up in the air. I'd like to go back and take lessons again at the Century Ballroom, and probably continue with the lindy lessons as well. There was a partner shortage for me at the after-class dance tonight, but I had fun chatting with a young guy who will be starting swing and lindy lessons soon. I was able to point him to the Swing Kids, the swing dance club associated with the University of Washington. The music is always good to listen to! As I was listening and watching the dancers, I was imagining good dancing in my future. After all, I recently met someone who said he liked Big Band music!
Wally's show, Don't Quote Me on This, was all about his and co-host David Wright's favorite web sites tonight. I was pleased that he mentioned Cyber-Sleaze, which I pointed him to. But he neither gave me on-air credit, nor mentioned this site! Oh, well! He has very kindly pointed to me from his journal links page, so I can't be too peeved.
I'll be getting to sleep early tonight. I'm supposed to meet Jason's gaming buddies tomorrow evening.
