Sons have always a rebellious wish to be disillusioned by that which charmed their fathers. |

One year ago: To Love Myself
I took a big step today at work: I installed the latest version of the product I am working on, on my main machine! Discerning readers might figure out that this portends something happening publicly in the near future. I do have access to our lab now, so if I need to test something in older browsers (the half-life of browser versions is now about the same as the expiration period of cottage cheese!) I can go in there to view pages.

New design! The design for May was very popular, and I do like that picture of myself. Maybe I'll work it into my home page. But it's time for a change. I love abalone and things that are darkly irridescent, so I used an image of an abalone shell as the basis for this month. I also used a font named "Webster" from the Emerald City Fontwerks. Check them out!

There was lots of shuffling schedules back and forth this afternoon, as we were sitting in the theater waiting for the first movie. I might even take a day off this week or next, since our group program manager was encouraging folks to take time off in the near future. He wasn't specifically suggesting this for me, but it would be great to attend the press screenings during the day.
Backroads
A Spanish movie, set in the last days of the Franco regime. A father and son are on the road. The father is estranged from his wealthy family, and is a bit of a trickster. This was worth seeing, and I especially liked Fernando Ramallo who played the boy.
The Well
An Australian drama (or thriller?). Hester, living on a cattle station with her elderly father, befriends Kathy, a younger woman brought in to work there. The consequences of reckless driving change the situation drastically. I liked this quite a lot! Both Pamela Rabe and Miranda Otto (last seen in Love Serenade at last year's festival) are excellent.
I only went to two movies tonight. Journal stuff and other web stuff needed to get done! I did manage to buy some advance tickets for this weekend, since my friend Jason is going to be joining me on Saturday.
