One year ago: Dancing with Abandon
Tuesday night I went to the second edition of Two-Tone Tuesday. This was after a complete bust of a Cacophony event!
I had a great success with this dance workshop, the first time I ran it, in June. We had a few people show up in July. But the only person to show up at Gasworks Park during the picnic part of the evening this month was my friend Jon Newman! So we sat and caught each other up on what's going on in our lives. Jon wasn't thrilled with the nacho-cheese-flavored pistachio nuts that were one of the things I had brought to eat, but I thought they were pretty good, even if I did pick them up by mistake and had intended to buy the lime-chile variety.
Jayson, fellow Cacophony member, showed up at seven-thirty with the sound equipment for the dancing, but with only the three of us there, we bagged it, since Jon and I had decided to go up to Two-tone Tuesday. My friend Joan showed up in the parking lot just as we were leaving Gasworks and said she would join us, too!
Jon and I participated in the beginning lesson when we got there. The room was dark and soon got very warm, since they were having electrical problems and only a portion of the lights were working, and none of the air conditioning! I think I was the first person at Two-Tone Tuesday to fall flat on my ass while dancing, not while I was dancing with Jon, but with Doug. He asked me to dance again later, like getting back up on the horse. Thankfully, I wasn't hurt!
One of the things that tickled me about having Jon and Joan there, besides the pleasure of their company, was that both of them have been dancing with me when I was more of a beginner. They could see the progress I have made! and did compliment me.

Tonight Helen and I went to dinner. (We last got together at the first of the recent journaler gatherings.) Since her unexpected non-return to Korea, she has been staying various places with relatives and friends, most recently with my friend Bluejack, who is also a new neighbor of mine.
We ate dinner and gossiped at a nearby Indian restaurant, then decided to see a movie. "Next Stop Wonderland" was playing at the Broadway Market theater (we thought!), so we walked down the hill in the gathering dusk. I wanted to see this movie because it's supposed to be funny, and I missed it at the film festival. When we got to the theater, we were chagrined to find that the newspaper had misled us, and the movie wasn't playing yet! So we wandered through a few stores, then walked to Bluejack's place. We called ahead to warn him, but he must not have been home yet. But when we got there, he was, busily washing the salad greens. He really is making efforts towards healthy eating!
Helen and I went up to the roof deck, where Bluejack joined us after a few minutes. The view is amazing! The building isn't so tall, four or five stories, I think. But it's at the top of Capitol Hill, right close to the radio towers, and the building's moderate height means that the local neighborhood is very well displayed from up there.
When Bluejack got too cold, we went back down and I inspected the bare apartment, prowling around like a cat into every room. It will look very different when inhabited by his wife and their posessions, I think!
