One year ago: Pressure Produces Diamonds
Things are getting very busy for my team at work. The fact that we have to move offices next week is not helping; in fact, it's very randomizing as the expression goes here. I worked extra hours tonight and Monday night, and I'll probably look to do some work this weekend as well. That isn't my usual pattern, but I don't mind it (and extra bucks are always welcome). It's one reason I like to start work early in the day; I can add time on to the end and still leave in time to go dancing!
One of my dance buddies was worried that I was bugged with him. I had asked him to dance early in the evening on Tuesday (at Two-tone Tuesday, of course) but he wasn't ready then, psychologically. So I went on and danced with others. He didn't come and ask me later, but was dancing with various folks, so I figured he had his agenda for the evening. Not a problem! But he did come over and speak with me, when he saw me taking off my dancing shoes at around 11:30. I was determined not to stay as late as I did last week! That put me in the sleep-debt hole for the rest of the week, as fun as it was.
So he did ask me to dance tonight at the Century, so that's ok. No one is under an obligation to dance with anyone, but if one is asked to dance, and puts that person off, and doesn't follow up later, the asker will probably not ask again. The complicated etiquette of the dance floor!
I'm feeling the extra effort of having two dance classes before the Wednesday night dance at the Century Ballroom, even though being in class for that time isn't as strenuous as two hours of straight dancing.

When my class was done, and while the free lesson was going on, I went out to get a bite to eat, since I'd worked late and not had time to eat earlier. KFC had just closed (it's right across the street from the Ballroom) so I went to the QFC and wandered around. Of course, their deli area had also closed (and it was only nine o'clock!) but I got one of those good Torinos sandwiches (pepperoni, salami, sundried tomato and balsamic vinegar on a very good roll) and some Mint Milano cookies (Hey! I forgot to eat them!).
I wanted something to read while eating, so I picked up a Mary Englebreit Home Companion Magazine. This is the first time I've looked at it, though of course I enjoy her art. This mag comes in the category of lifestyle porn, like Martha Stewart. But Englebreit has a very distinctive look; I don't know what it would be like to live in her world, but the cuteness factor is counterbalanced by a pleasing astringency.
Then back to dancing, but as I said, I was tired so I didn't stay as late as usual. I think I was home before midnight!

The Mighty Kymm featured me in her September 98 column, Tell Me a Story for Planet Amazon. I like what she had to say about me! And of course, I always love to be linked to. So here's a big shout out to any Planet Amazon readers!
