A Day at Home

One year ago: Internal Tools
I was very pleased with how I took advantage of my enforced day off today (due to an office move). I washed some of my dance clothes by hand, and hung them up over the bathtub. Office clothes can usually be worn more than once, but not dance clothes. They are more akin to workout wear!
The plumber, Victor, arrived around noon. I pointed him to the garbage disposal, which hasn't worked in a while. He diagnosed the problem: rust! The parts down in there (where one doesn't really like to reach. Even Victor has this phobia and confessed it to me unprompted!) had rusted together. He had to whack and pry at them with a screwdriver. I didn't feel bad that I hadn't been able to get it going myself. With the disposal fixed, the slow draining fixed itself. I showed him the drip under the bathroom sink, but he advised me that replacing that trap would be a much more extensive job, involving cutting into the wall and replacing the lead drain pipe. So I decided to leave it as is for right now.
After having no cable TV for a time, I now have a bunch of cable TV. I signed up for digital cable, which gets me a fancy remote, and a lot of channels that weren't available on this system before. The cable guy (I forget his name) actually had to go to his truck to get the manual because of the complications caused by my home theater system. But he figured it out, and I really like having the BBC, and the Sci-Fi Channel, and TV-Land, and so on...
So I was two for three, but my third appointment didn't work out. The appliance repair place is just a few blocks from here, so they were going to call when they were coming over. (Because of all these service calls, I had to keep my online time restricted to just grabbing email for most of the day.) I must have been with the cable guy in the living room and not heard the phone, because I found the message light blinking on my answering machine. I returned the call, but their repair guy had already left for the day. So my freezer will remain not frost-free, and the refrigerator will stay warmer than it should be, until the next time I spend a weekday at home.

We did a useful exercise at dance class tonight. Lovica handed each follow a plastic hanger. We were to hold these between our hands, hook pointed towards ourselves for safety, and the leads could turn us every which way, forward and back and round and round, and our hands would stay in the same place relative to the rest of our bodies, as they should. This worked! Hallie is great about giving me positive feedback these days, and said several times that I was doing this well.
I was feeling slightly tired at the beginning of the dance, after two hours of class. But I soon perked up, and danced almost every dance. Chris Chapman talked to me about the class session starting tomorrow, while we were dancing. Apparently they'll be repeating some moves that I've learned before, but I said that was OK with me. Michael Coffey bugged me to be sure and link to his page, since he'd put it up specifically so I could do that!
