Family Dinner
Tuesday, September 29, 1998
Last night we had our book club meeting. There were only four of us there! I hope the group doesn't dissolve; it's been going for a number of years, and I enjoy it! It does get me to read things that I probably wouldn't otherwise.
We met at Shi-Lin chinese restaurant and had dinner, and discussed Rebecca Wells' book Little Altars Everywhere. When Tom, a new member, started speculating on whether the grim events had really happened to the author, I asked if that really mattered in appreciating the book. But I think I didn't make myself clear; we were talking at cross purposes for several minutes before I let it drop.
I did like the book very much, and finished all but a few pages. I think I left it at Jack's house.

Today at work I was in meetings for about four hours straight. They were valuable, though, and we actually got some things settled and accomplished. I came back to my office and found that all of the email I'd gotten in my personal inbox was from some mailing list or other, not mail sent to me. So mail me, you groupies, as Lunesse likes to say.
I had dinner at my sister's house. It's been too long since I was over there! Since she only reads this journal very irregularly (she doesn't usually surf the web at work, and they have no access at home), I filled her in on all my recent adventures. My younger nephew, in kindergarten this year, was very involved in playing with the letter and number refrigerator magnets, arranging the numbers and having my sister say what number they formed.
A fun night of dancing at Two-Tone Tuesday, of course! I laughed when Hyper Dan said to me, "I'll be dancing a lot with you tonight, because Anne isn't here." Anne is a regular partner of his. "What a nice way to put it!" I replied. There was quite a large crowd for the lesson, and they stayed to dance for the early part of the evening. The contest this week was for reverse-role couples, which was interesting to watch. I don't know about professional dance teachers being in the contests, though!
I had intended to leave early, but of course I stayed till the end.
