Plans and Schemes

Once I planned to write a book of poems entirely about the things in my pocket. But I found it would be too long; and the age of the great epics is past.

One year ago: When to Pant

Work was good today, except when some team members did some reconfiguring to our server. They didn't know, when they started, how far the ramifications would go! Lots of tech stuff about virtual roots. They were very sorry!

At the end of the day I got email from Jack, confirming that we would be getting together Saturday night. I was happy! I immediately called him up. (This is practical when I'm at work, while at home if I'm getting mail, the phone is tied up by the modem.) It's difficult for me to have things up in the air, so I'd been a little worried that he'd said on Tuesday "I still don't know about dinner Saturday". Not having things settled goes against the "J" part of INFJ. So we discussed arrangements for tomorrow night, and I followed up with an email "to confirm our discussion" as they say.

When I arrived home, I answered some email from Steph, the former and current significant other of Jason. She's been reading this journal for a while, and felt strange about it since we hadn't met or spoken. I'm always glad to hear from readers, and how much more to hear from a reader with a personal connection to me! She and I will finally meet when she moves to Seattle at the end of this year.

On my way to dance class, I stopped for a few slices of pizza at Georgina's, my neighborhood place. I was touched by the owner, I mean by the owner's kindness, when he brought me a glass of water. I was sitting at the counter by the window, where one usually doesn't get such service!

I walked on down the street to Friday Night Practice at the Savoy Swing Club. (Difficult to type that word, "savoy." My fingers want to type "savory"!) I don't think I danced with anyone new to me, which I usually try to do. I know when I was first going to practice, I was shy about asking folks to dance, so asking a new person is a mitzvah for me now (also a good way to find future regular partners). I danced several times with Steve Steiner. It was a nice surprise when Benjamin arrived, since he isn't a regular at FNP.
