Pajama Party

A majestic form and graceful motions will express themselves through the most barbarous and tasteless costume.

I see light at the end of the tunnel. I only have a few things to take care of tomorrow. I had the fun of overseeing the digital signing of around one hundred CAB files, which was a mite stressful. The main tester on my team had to leave today on a previously scheduled trip. It's probably a mistake to plan a vacation near ship time; the schedule invariable slips! But we have most things taken care of, and her colleague will take care of the remaining issues.

I was so happy to be able to leave at a normal time this evening. I had time to take care of some email before dance class.

I "cheated" by taking the bus both to and from class. Really, the walk is usually part of the experience for me. But the bus pulled up just as I walked out my door, and I have a pass. I did walk about five blocks, from 15th to 19th. I walked a bit more of the way home, but there the bus was, pulling up just across the street, so I hopped on for seven blocks or so.

This was the last class of the session, so Jen and Chris reviewed the steps we've covered in the past six weeks. They don't repeat steps for a long time, so it's ok to keep taking the class indefinitely. Chris warned me before this session started that they would be repeating some things from their first session, last January! It was actually good that we reviewed, since I've missed a few classes this time around.

After class I walked down to the deli and got some ice cream. I'd have gotten a more healthy snack if they'd had any! But I hadn't eaten dinner before class (it starts at six fifteen!) and I was hungry. Caffe Vita and Chocolate Oreo, one scoop each. Yum! Since I was by myself, no classmates accompanying me, I carried it back to the Russian Center and chatted with Jessica King and Joe Ross in the lobby, while the beginners' class was going on inside.

The title of this entry derives from the theme for the dance tonight. Rather than have a regular costume party for this pre-Halloween occasion, Jen and Chris asked folks to wear their pajamas! They themselves wore them, Jen in plaid flannel, and Chris in a red and blue striped bathrobe. He said it had to be those colors, to coordinate with his two-tone shoes! Lots of othe people were in nightgear of various sorts, too. I didn't do this, but I did wear some very unusual tights -- lime-green blending to turquoise, in bands, with an overall pattern of squiggles and flowers and geometrics in some other colors. These coordinated well with my turquoise rayon print dress.

I came home to exchange a bunch of email with Jack. He has a costume party invitation he'd been trying to decide about, and tonight he decided that he would go, after all. Did I want to join him? Well, sure! (This was the first I'd heard of it.) So it's rather last-minute for his costume and mine, and other logistics will take some doing, but I think it will be a fun time tomorrow night!
