Research

Knowledge is of two kinds. We know a subject ourselves, or we know where we can find information upon it.

One year ago: Slackage

Back to work, after a fine break! I was gone Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and returned on Sunday, if you haven't been keeping up.

I hadn't gotten all the way caught up on journal reading, so I did some of that when I got home, then drove to my sister's house. My nephew J--- had asked me last week if he could do some research on the Internet at my place, for a report he is doing at school. I sat down and chatted with them for a few minutes. The Advent wreath was on the table, but doesn't have any greenery on it yet. I brought J--- back with me to my place.

What he wanted to find out about was the history of juggling. He'll tell the class a few things about juggling -- what sort of things do people juggle? who is the most famous juggler ever -- and do a demo of juggling with scarves. An ambitious assignment for a second grader! There are a bunch of web pages about juggling, so it didn't take long to find what he needed and print it out. I took him home and came back again.

I don't know if parking is getting worse in my neighborhood, or if it's just a consequence of the bad weather we've been having, but each time I arrived home tonight (three times!) I had difficulty finding a spot. Normally I can park within one block of my building, thought I might need to try various directions. But tonight I had to drive around and around, then slog home in the terrible rain.
