Missed ClassLove sought is good, but given unsought is better. Thursday, December 3, 1998 Although I went to work today, I started feeling poorly as I was driving home, so I decided to stay home from dance class. Darn! This will set me back in learning to lead. I'm not so concerned about missing my intermediate class, but in the beginning class, missing a week means missing a lot of material! A year ago I was dancing with my friend Jon Newman and trying to explain science fiction fandom to him. Interesting to consider how my life is the same and different since then. I managed to get the Cacophony pages updated in an expeditious manner this month. The Bob Dylan Holiday Choir is one of the best things we do all year, and I can't wait to see what happens with the Santa Rampage!
Yay! My buddy Bluejack has finally updated. Ah, the browser bitching. It doesn't bother me that "other browsers" don't render exactly the same as my preferred one, and I don't do much to accommodate them here beyond basic readability. Is it just my laid-back personality that I don't get exercised about this? I was listening to the web summit hoo-ha at work today, that happened in San Francisco last night. (You can listen at Cnet Radio.) It's my belief that two browsers might both conform to spec, yea, even to 100%, and still not render pixel-for-pixel identical. That's just the way HTML is! What does bug me is case-sensitive URLs.
I was listening to "Talk of the Nation" on the radio, and they were talking about Shakespeare in our culture. That part didn't thrill me, but they had actors who are appearing in a DC area production of Twelfth Night. I don't know why this is by far my favorite Shakespeare play, but it is. I really did like the recent film version, and I've gone out of my way to see the play when it's performed around here. I wonder if there's been a musical or opera version? It's one of the more musical of the plays.
