Cold Stupid

The writer who neglects punctuation, or mispunctuates, is liable to be misunderstood....For the want of merely a comma, it often occurs that an axiom appears a paradox, or that a sarcasm is converted into a sermonoid.

One year ago: Introspection

I'd intended to get a lot done at work today, and even work late, before going dancing. But a cold that didn't bother me much yesterday got steadily worse today, and I left work at my regular time, went home, lay down and slept. This is bad -- I need to get stuff done!

Why is it that I can't find any of the tubes of Blistex that are normally kicking around here? I must have put them in some clever place, in an uncharacteristic fit of tidyness, and now they are hidden from me! Blistex is a good thing to dab on the end of one's nose when one's nose is running, to prevent chapping and soreness.

I'm awake now, but I need to go back to sleep.

I did find Shelleyness again! She'd disappeared, I think, or I hadn't followed when she moved to her own domain. She's a very funny writer! I think I found the link when various people on diary-l were recommending journals for someone who needed something to read. There was a sad lack of people recommending me! Not a good thing to be noticing when one is feeling puny.

I really like our local public radio station, KUOW -- I should send them some money! I listen to them while commuting, and most of the time while I'm online at home. Recently they've been featuring a series of Poe dramatizations that have been creeping me out! The stories are simply done, read by a woman with a breathy voice, eerie music in the background the while.

My favorite show on the station is the locally produced Rewind (you can listen in Real Audio). They've got a good mix of comedy and political commentary, along with a weekly call to Helen the quick-info librarian.
