Valentine

Do you want me to tell you something really subversive? Love is everything it's cracked up to be. That's why people are so cynical about it.... It really is worth fighting for, being brave for, risking everything for. And the trouble is, if you don't risk anything, you risk even more.

I give a report about the shadow puppet play, in Saturday's entry, with pictures!

Anita and the flowers Jack gave her (link to larger version) Here I am, with the flowers that Jack sent me on Friday. What a sweet man! He first wrote me last May, and we met in June, for coffee. Our first real date happened in July. I'll reveal now, what I didn't say then: I kissed him in the parking garage, that first night. He was surprised, but not displeased. I'm not much of a one for ambiguity, or leaving things up in the air, evidently!

Jack took his daughters up to his parents' place in Eastern Washington for the weekend. I'd have gone along (and I was so pleased to be asked) if it weren't so late in the product cycle! I'll see him when he gets back, Monday or Tuesday, I hope!

I spent the afternoon at the office. This time I really was almost on my own! I think there might have been a few other folks around. I traded email with Thinking Aloud listmate [never] who was having some color problems, pointing her to my most favored color-picking chart. The color cube is inside out! amazing! but save it to your hard drive, since it's a longish page.

The author of a journal that I used to read and enjoy sent me mail to say hi. I wondered if that slightly pouty feeling I've had recently had actually been expressed here, since he seemed to think I needed some strokes, but looking back over the past week or so, I don't see it. Anyway, I'm always pleased to hear from people who read this. I wish the Beer Warrior was still writing on the web.

When I bought the ingredients for chilaquiles the other day, I also bought some of that Sage Derby cheese I like so much. So I've been eating it, spread on crackers, while writing. The flavor and aroma is powerful enough to make an impression even when my nose is partially blocked.

The most surprising thing to pop up in my inbox today: a notify email from Luke McGuff! He is restarting his journal again, new format, new title, same URL. Red and blue set the page a-vibrating! Check it out!
