Lord Ronald said nothing; he flung himself from the room, flung himself upon his horse and rode madly off in all directions.

One year ago: Old and New

What an aggravating morning! We are heading down the runway for launch of the product I work on, and the allied website I've been working with since last fall. But there were network problems all over the building, the staging server that our tester needed to see to sign off on was barfing, and I could do nothing but sit in my office and try to get my machines back on the net. (The DCHP servers were being upgraded, if you are curious, and my IP lease had expired.)

While I was waiting, after doing harddrive cleanup and stuff, I started reading a book that's one of Jack's favorites: Headcrash by Bruce Bethke. (He seems to have invented the word "cyberpunk.") The book is funny, but I don't know if I'll find it as funny as Jack does.

After I got home from dance class (and more dancing at Washington Dance Club), I got caught up on journals. (I was at Jack's place last night, so I didn't have access to my bookmarks for all the ones I read regularly.) This led to me staying up too late! Even though I know those web pages would be there later for me to read, it's difficult to just turn the computer off, when I know there are new entries there. It's the same with notify mail; who could resist going to the URL immediately?

Wally posted the pictures I took of the Cirque du Flambé last Thursday. Some of them look good! But you'll want a fast net connection, since I just gave him the raw files and didn't do any compression or thumbnail-making. He also updated the page that gives the details on his own special act, "Pyroboy." But I didn't get as many good images of Wally this time as I did last Trolloween. The circus is a lot of fun, and they have a few performances left to do! Maybe I'll go again, Thursday or Saturday night.

If you are interested in web stuff, Scripting News is a good site to keep up on. I'd include the discussion group in that recommendation. I even post there myself sometimes!

These last few entries have been really scattered! The stress of shipping a product, I guess. I certainly am much more involved now than I was last time, for Internet Explorer 4.
