VideoI have no fear of photography as long as it cannot be used in heaven and in hell. Tuesday, April 20, 1999
I don't know who precisely was reading this journal yesterday, but besides the customary Monday spike of hits, there was a lot of traffic on the month pages that make up the archive! When someone is reading through the back entries, I can see a general rise of hits, but normally no one old page gets enough traffic to register on the web stats program that my ISP runs daily. The page where I first mentioned Jerkcity.com is an exception, since they link back to that entry. A file needs to get five hits in one day to show up in the logs. But yesterday, all these old "month" pages showed up! Maybe a few folks were just scanning the titles of old entries? If you are new here and catching up, feel free to write me!
At dance class tonight, we concentrated more on listening to the music and hearing the breaks than we did on steps, and we didn't review at all, which was fine by me. It's a surprise to me how hard this listening was for some leads. I think my music training pays off here, and as a follow I don't have to be thinking about the next move, so it's easier for me to listen. Earlier in the evening, I'd forwarded some mail to the class coordinator for the Savoy Swing Club that a classmate sent me last week. (I anonymized my classmate's part first.) The problem of proficiency levels in class is a perennial one, and I didn't expect that the coordinator could solve it, but I thought he should know how we are feeling.
I went to the Washington Dance club after class, and had a good time! I danced with a lead that I hadn't seen before. His name is Philip. I was amused to see him standing at the head of the stairs for five minutes or so, watching to see what was going on, before deciding to pay and coming in. He looked great dancing with Anne Livingstone, so I asked him for a dance. He's got a fairly athletic style! I didn't get a chance to ask him where he's been dancing, but no one else knew him either.
I really like all the improvements they've made to the Mavicas! Maybe next Christmas I'll get myself a new one (two years is enough to keep it, I think) and pass the old one on to a relative. |
