I have met many feminists who were not Lesbians -- but I have never met a Lesbian who was not a feminist.

Today is the day that the movers actually came to Jack's place and packed him up. He is left there with only a cot and air mattress, and his laptop! I talked to him before the first movie today, calling from a pay phone in the lobby. It was an old-fashioned dial phone; I don't remember the last time I used one. He says he's doing ok, though very tired. I hope he'll be able to come over to campus tomorrow and join me for lunch. He's staying at his house tonight, because he's got a cleaning service coming in tomorrow morning.
One of the final puzzles of this move for him: how to get his truck, a van, a motorcycle and a non-running VW dune buggy up to Bellingham. It's like one of those brain teasers about the goat, the boat and the fox! I'd help him but I don't drive a stick shift.
This cold is getting me down; I feel especially bad when I wake up! I've even had those bad dreams where coughing and sniffling have some deeper significance. I feel sick (in reality), but I can't wake up enough to realize that I should get up and blow my nose or drink some water.

I was surprised when my movie buddy A---- didn't show up at the theater which had been circled on my schedule, but there was a message from him on my answering machine when I got home. He'd seen one of the films at a press screening, so he decided to change his plans and go elsewhere. No problem, except I don't think I know where to show up Friday evening now!
- Only Clouds Move the Stars
(IMDB page for this film) A young girl and her family are mourning the death of her younger brother. She is helped by a developing friendship with a boy she meets, while staying at her grandparents' home in Bergen. Beautiful cinematography and fine performances. Norwegian. Well worth seeing, and not a total tear-jerker. I was interested in seeing the Norwegian towns, since I'm a former lodge member of the Sons of Norway!
- Show Me Love
(IMDB page for this film) Ha! The original title for this was Fucking Åmål, but the distributers realized that that wasn't good for the USA, I guess. That's how one of the characters referred to the small town they were living in. Swedish, so this was my evening for Scandinavian films. A young girl isn't looking forward to her sixteenth birthday, since she feels like an outsider. There's a wild, energetic (slutty?) young woman that the birthday girl has a crush on. Will she attend the birthday party? Some dramatic scenes, but a lot of humor and tenderness, too. I liked it!
