Still Digging

A truly great book should be read in youth, again in maturity and once more in old age, as a fine building should be seen by morning light, at noon and by moonlight.

Two years ago: Bite Your Own Teeth

I'm so pleased with myself!

I asked my downstairs neighbor if she was expecting one of the charities she donates to, to make a pickup soon. I wanted to let my two bags of clothing tag on with her stuff. Her adult son pointed me to a corner in our laundry room that was now the drop-off point for anyone in the building to put the stuff they want to donate!

So I took my bags down there tonight, while in process of doing two loads of laundry. (It's dry, folded, and sitting in the basket on my bed, so I'll have to unload the basket before going to sleep.) And any other random objects I want to get rid of will be easily disposed of, if they are of donatable quality.

I also cleaned up the bathroom and unloaded and reloaded the dishwasher, and cleaned up the kitchen sink, and picked up and dealt with all the random stuff (books, empty grocery sacks, canned goods, etc) that had accumulated on the kitchen floor. I also continued with the book-sorting I started last night.

The reason for all this activity? The level of mess and grime that's ok for me alone, just doesn't seem right when I'll have a guest. Somehow we never mind our own trash.

I was so eager to get caught up here yesterday, that I neglected to talk about my trip to the dentist yesterday morning. And the hygenist was so pleased with me! Apparently most of my "Threes" are now "Twos," which is good. I asked her about the placque-fighting prerinse recommended by Jack. She said Listerine was just fine, and gave me a free sample. I've been using the Colgate Total toothpaste recommended by her for a while now. Apparently there's a clinical study that said using it was effective for tartar reduction.

It's amazing how much such folks, that you only see every six months or so, can remember about you. When we were chatting about the Fremont fair and I mentioned the company, Zen Tropic, that I buy my batik dresses from, she remembered all about it. She said she wants to go check them out this weekend. But what if she buys the dresses I would want? We are about the same size!
