Relaxing

Have you known how to take rest? You have done more than he who hath taken empires and cities.

One year ago: Solstice Parade

After all the fun yesterday, it was very nice to sleep late today. After I woke up on the living room floor (on the borrowed mattress -- I didn't pass out!), I went into the bedroom and curled up next to Jack, waking him up that way. To have your sweetie stay over and not get to share a bed is no fun, but it was the best way to handle things this weekend.

I was such a good hostess that I walked the two blocks to the espresso cart and bought Jack his coffee, before I even put my contact lenses in! (I bought a beverage for myself, also.) "You don't have to do that," Jack said, but he deserves some pampering. That's why I bought the "Sunday" paper Saturday afternoon, along with a big box of croissants and some berry-flavored cream cheese. We relaxed in the living room, ate the goodies, and traded sections of the paper. Jack just doesn't feel right unless he gets to read the Sunday comics.

All too soon, Jack started talking about getting ready to go. He just talked about it for quite a while, though, without actually making a move to do anything about it. He started getting hungry for some lunch, so I walked with him to Taco Time, a few blocks away. I'd had more of the croissants than him, so I wasn't hungry at all. We came back and made several trips to load his truck back up again; fitting it all in so it would be convenient for him later took some thought.

He took off, to do some errands and see a friend before driving up north, but not before some nice hugging. I really liked it that he wanted to spend this weekend with me, and he was willing to do all the things that were my idea. What a sweetie!

So the rest of the day and night I got caught up on email and journals. I'd missed several huge diary-l things, including my old buddy Ray "Amazing Journey" German setting the cat among the pigeons by talking about Kymm. But I'll let him come visit me anyway, if he makes the cross-country road trip he's talking about. (He's the one who said I was Satan when I bugged him to add nav links to his journal, but he doesn't like me to mention it.)
