Seven Fathoms Down

Seven fathoms down and falling
Off the marble shore,
While above the tempest's howling,
though I hear no more.

We are now decided which company will be doing the furniture for our permanent offices. I'm glad we didn't go with the super-expensive one! It just doesn't make sense for a start-up to have huge slabs of granite or walnut for desks. So now we'll be in between the completely customized version, and the used desks from Microsoft. Utilitarian is fine with me!

We were gathered in Kat's office, looking at the photos from the company we are going to go with. Everyone else was sitting on the floor, but I'd pulled my normal office chair in and was sitting on that. It's normal shaped, not the one I normally sit in which is a knee-chair, if that makes sense. So all the pictures were on the floor in the center. I had to laugh -- when I leaned over to pick one up, I rolled right out of the chair so I was on the floor, too! My center of gravity just got out of my control!

I think we are definitely into the fall weather now. Lake Washington was a silvery gray when I was looking out of my coworker's window, almost like hammered pewter. I'm seeing more and more fall color on my drive home, with the winged euonymous shrubs and the staghorn sumac turning crimson and red. Neither are native here, but they are commonly planted along the freeway.

Instead of the far-reaching views from the top of our skyscraper offices, we are sometimes in the clouds.

I'm listening to a new Green Pajamas CD, "Seven Fathoms Down and Falling." I like it! I'd had it for a few weeks, but forgot that it was in my black tote bag until now. My dance buddy Joe Ross plays bass and does some of the writing and vocals. The psychedelic revival stuff they play isn't my regular thing, but it's very appealing and catchy! Check it out!
