One year ago: All Souls Day

I got email today from Stuart, a former coworker at Microsoft. He found my weblog: Scripting.com pointed to the Eatonweb weblog portal, and he saw me listed there. An advantage of having a first name starting with A!

This evening I went to the Century Ballroom, arriving before eight. We were supposed to have dance class, but not enough folks showed up for this first class of the session. I was disappointed! It's been too long since I've studied with Hallie and Loviça, and they don't offer this advanced class often. They've done some advanced workshops, but I've been out of town or unavailable. We'll need to recruit some folks in the next few days, or the class will be canceled entirely.

So we sat around and chatted until the dance started at nine. Joanne and Sean talked to Loviça about the "Swing This!" show (it had its first performance the previous Friday). What would it take to create a real dance show that was swing? There's a Broadway show opening now that's called "Swing" but apparently there isn't much swing content. The other folks were full of advice for Loviça, but I'm dubious about statements starting with "You should ----" spoken with great enthusiasm. Surely these are things she has considered?

I was inspired this month by Wide Glide, a font by Mike Clayton of Brain Stew Fonts. I like the retro feel of it! I was reminded of a fifties car nameplate, so I made the nav graphics look like a gear indicator.
