Seattle List

It is grossly selfish to require of one's neighbour that he should think in the same way, and hold the same opinions. Why should he? If he can think, he will probably think differently. If he cannot think, it is monstrous to require thought of any kind from him.

Today Chip had me looking for chat software, specifically chat software with features that would make it easy for us to have moderated chats on our website. I sent out a call for information on the webgrrls mailing list. I wonder how many of our regualar readers would want to participate? We have in mind them asking questions of our commentators. I wonder how many would be able to figure out how to join the chat?

I do think it's an interesting thing to try, and we'll have our technical analyst in the office for the next several weeks, so this is a good time to work on this.

I was poking around on epinions.com, seeing what's new, and I found that they've added a category for ratings of financial websites, including technical analysis websites like Stockcharts.com. Now, I'm an epinions member, but this is one review that I can't write, since I could never be unbiased. I want to look around and find folks that I know who are epinions.com members.

Bill "Man Out of Time" Dickson has started a mailing list for Seattle journal writers. So far there are only four of us on the list, which may be too small a population to sustain a mailing list, but I know there are other journal writers in town. I'll see about sending a note to the ones I know of, and remind myself to send some stuff to the list: notes about local happenings where we could meet up, and stuff like that.

Speaking of localized content, I did go ahead and add a list of Seattle weblog folks to my pitas page. Reorganizing my bookmarks made doing this easier -- I created a folder for the Seattle blogs.
