Wrong Place

God gave us memory so that we might have roses in December.

One year ago: 5000 Fingers
Two years ago: Sketches

Cheating -- I've linked to the entries for February 28, a year ago and two years ago. I didn't write a year ago or two years ago because this date didn't exist then, which is a strange thought. I know that very few people look back at these earlier entries, darn it! but I enjoy the look back, at any rate. Two years ago was the first anniversary celebration for the Century Ballroom; one year ago was a nice weekend with Jack.

Are disappearing archives the latest journal trend? Lynda says she'll only keep a couple of months of her stuff around. Both Pamie and Xeney had entries up, talking about stuff they are currently going through, then too them down. This concept reminds me of the William Gibson story, that was encoded into a computer program, such that you only got to run it once -- the story erased itself as it displayed itself (more on William Gibson). I'm glad I've been reading Parenthesis for a while already! I do understand why Pamie and Beth took down what they put up, but I was glad I got the chance to read those entries.

I liked what Lunesse said on diary-l, in a discussion about wanting more readers and fame.

"Write about sex. Even if you aren't having any, write about sex you've had, you dream of having, you want to have. And in the same vein.... Share your pain. People love to see others feeling worse than themselves...not everyone, of course, but misery loves company and all that."

I don't write about sex, much! I'll have to work on finding a way to do that and be comfortable about it. Imagine, some of my readers think that I'm oh-so-open and revealing!

My friend Kate Schaefer asked me about a shopping expedition -- she has an overseas fan staying with her, this week between Potlatch and Corflu. "I know you get most of your lingerie through mail order, but do you know of a good place to shop here?" ha! Maybe this entry was what gave her that notion, but most of my underwear was bought at Lane Bryant -- I like their "Sheerwear" line of bras. I proposed that Kate and Pam should come over to Redmond Town Center; I'd have been able to join them at the Lane Bryant there, but it was not to be.

I was supposed to start a new series of dance classes tonight, taught by Theo and Viola -- the ultimate lindy improv class, and something about Hollywood style for savy dancers. I left late from work and I knew traffic was bad, so I drove directly to where I thought the class was going to be. I was horrifed and chagrinned to see that the Greenwood dance studio was filled with Living Traditions dance students, and I was in the wrong place. I don't know how my mind got this mixed up, because the email announcing the class was perfectly clear -- I should have been at the University Heights Community Center, darn it!

By the time I got home and found the correct location, I didn't feel up to going out. I'll start next week, if the instructors allow it, and if there is room in the class.
