MiscellanyNothing is so beautiful as spring -- Thursday, March 23, 2000 My friend Shad said, at Moonfarmer.org: "I have decided to deprecate myself, this means you can still use me, but there's no guarantee I will be present in future versions." I giggled when I read that!
At work, I've been working on our new Avantgo channel. It's really just a very simplified version of our regular stuff, but it's been a proof of concept for Chip and me to work on this new production process, where the same content can be poured into different templates. If you are a Palm user and would like to try it out, fill out the feedback form and we'll get you the info. The only thing holding us back now is waiting for the partner agreement from Avantgo.
Jack's been having folks over to watch anime on Wednesday evenings. He complains about the work involved (cleaning up ahead of time, I guess) but I know he enjoys being hospitable and turning people on to what he enjoys. I asked him if anyone offers to bring snacks or help in other ways -- nope! But it's still worth doing.
The biggest achievement at work (and it's not mine, it's Kellie's) is the newly revamped Education Center. It's all been reorganized and reformatted, with lots of new content from our chief technical analyst, Arthur Hill. I was involved in proofing and editing the new stuff, but it was Kellie's project. This is another thing that we'd love feedback on. If you read it and find stuff you don't understand, or that is unclear, or if there are things you expected to find and didn't, please let us know! Usually Chip likes to have something new on the site each week, but this week we really have two things!
It's now been a week since my root canal, and I'm just about done with the antibiotics. I'm still feeling some discomfort, though, which worries me. If I'm going to need another one (on the tooth above, which was crowned sans root canal not long ago) I want to get it done before my whole jaw is messed up! Or maybe it's just my bite that is now misaligned because of the work on my lower jaw. (At first I wrote "the lower jaw." Talk about distancing!) This subject bothers me because my mother had a (rare) cancer of the salivary glands, which was misdiagnosed as TMJ syndrome for a long time. It's not hereditary, though. But still it's in my mind.
We are now seeing spring all over the place. Daffodils are at their peak, and buds are popping on the trees. I enjoy my commuting drives through the Arboretum even more, now that the days are longer and it's light both when I drive to work, and when I'm getting home. |
