Two years ago: Easter Bunny Hunt
Don't miss my rafting adventures from last weekend!

I was dancing at the Century Ballroom on Monday night. I was glad to see my dance buddy Brian (see him dancing with me last April in this entry with mpg video). I don't know what brought it to his mind, but he started asking about my web site. I don't keep it a secret, but I don't thrust the URL onto people and Brian doesn't do much email. Anyway, I tried to explain that he must be thinking of my journal -- I don't have an entire site devoted to swing dancing (but it might seem like that sometimes, I guess). Or maybe he was confusing my web projects with the late, lamented, Lindyhype? It still grieves me that Dan Osborne moved on to other interests; the site was a valuable local resource, and I miss Dan as a dance buddy!
I went to see Romeo Must Die tonight, to delay the trip home (the traffic was very bad). It wasn't bad. I was glad to have seen it in the theater -- it's worth it. The main story was by the numbers, but Jet Li is always very appealing. I think I like him best in movies like Once Upon a Time in China, where he's a noble martial arts monk.
Liralen talked about how he's a small guy, compared to the American actors. I liked how they commented on this in the movie -- the gangster says to his daughter after grasping Li's hand, "I thought he was a bigger guy!"
It made me laugh to see the scene that was inserted specifically for the title: a character says to Li: "Forget it, Romeo, you'll never get with [the gangster's daughter]!" This is the only mention of the word "Romeo" in the movie.

I think Mike Gunderloy is having a cool rural/tech life these days. He's a longtime fanzine fan that used to do the factsheet 5 zine review zine. now he lives in eastern Washington and does a weblog at larkfarm.com. He's just added a journal thing, also. Bonus: kitty pix!
