I've decided to just adapt the design for my weblog to the journal this month. Work, film festival, and stress about Jack's health mean that I haven't felt very inspired graphically. But I don't want to fall too far behind here, so this is one solution.

* * * * * * * *

I really felt the effects of laying off from dancing, then getting back to it last night -- my legs were sore today! It felt good, though.

I told Chip, "You know how I've been leaving early each day? Well, tomorrow I have to leave even earlier. It's Cinerama Day!" I'm looking forward to the special screenings at the restored Cinerama theater. I got home from work in time to walk to the Harvard Exit.

  • El Medina
    (IMDB page for this film) Egyptian (with French co-prodution?) A young man wants to be an actor, and travels from the market neighborhood of his youth in Cairo, to Paris. The parts in Egypt were more interesting than the Paris sequences. Some earnestness about the plight of illegal aliens in France. The hero works in fixed boxing matches, leading to some quotations from On The Waterfront. The hero's dream sequences were unusually well done! This film was worth watching if it comes your way.
  • Honor of the House
    (IMDB page for this film) Iceland. A remote village and drama between two sisters, in the 1800s. One is very concerned about what people will say, and takes drastic action to cover family scandals. I couldn't have predicted this the way it turned out. It held my attention! And the setting was interesting.

Honor is unstable and seldom the same; for she feeds upon opinion, and is as fickle as her food.
-- Charles Caleb Colton
