One year ago: Catching Up
Two years ago: Cacophony Meeting
Three years ago: Image-Junkies
A year ago, I was struggling to declutter. I'm still struggling! That's why there's a newsgroup called alt.support.declutter (and not alt.cure.declutter). If one has these tendencies, it's a life-long process to deal with it.
I got up early, up at Jack's house, and drove an hour and a half to work. I stopped at a McDonalds when I got off the highway and bought a steak bagel breakfast sandwich that was good! But not exactly healthy eating. I'm better off making myself some oatmeal, as I do most mornings.
An hour and a half to work, and a distance of 90 miles. This afternoon I drove home 30 miles, in stop and go traffic the whole time, so it took about the same amount of time!

I enjoyed catching up with the numerous journals I read after a few days away. Maybe I should use a bookmarking website? Then I could read journals conveniently even when away from home. I use Weblogs.com to track the weblogs I read.
I got the chance to go to Savoy Swing Club's Friday night practice tonight. It's been a while! The surroundings there are barebones -- it's a basement dance studio, with mirrors on some walls, bare brick on others. It always tickles me that the tango dancers who come in after us set up romantic lighting, and have punch and cookies laid out. These refreshments are carefully covered with a cloth until we get our lindy-hopping asses out of there, promptly at nine thirty.
The mini-lesson was taught by Winfield Hobbes and Jodi Fleischman -- a series of six-count moves put together in a little combination. Good stuff! And it's just always useful to dance with new people. I saw a guy standing at the end of the room, looking so much like he wanted to dance. I asked him, but the song was on the fast side, and he was more of a beginner than I'd imagined. We got through it by the skin of our teeth! Turned out he was American, but lives in Australia! His wife was Australian, but not a dancer, I guess. I give them credit for doing some online research, looking for places to dance on their travels!
I danced with a guy from Chicago (fun! but I forget his name already). I also danced with Guy Caridi, and Win, along with some of my regular partners. Dancing is a gift you give each other -- such great interaction and fun. It's a conversation.
