Clary SageThe especial genius of women I believe to be electrical in movement, intuitive in function, spiritual in tendency. Thursday, August 10, 2000 I finally got the email Jack sent me on Friday morning, about the raft trip with my family -- Monday morning! It had lingered around the servers at Jack's work from Friday until Monday, for no discernable reason. I haven't gone out dancing any night this week! This isn't good. I'm slacking!
Pete gave me a ride home from work today. I asked him to drop me off at the Madison Market, a few blocks from my place. I was wandering in the essential oils and bath products aisle (a dangerous place for wallet!) My period was starting, and my back was hurting me a bit. A packet of bath salts with the charming name of "gal pal" caught my eye. I picked it up and looked at the ingredients. I already had lavender, frankincense (I thought), and geranium oil, and a big jar of unscented epsom salts. I bought the clary sage oil. This one comes with a big warning about its use by pregnant women. I wondered if it's an abortifacient? Is that why it's supposed to be good for "female problems"? My other purchase was good pizza bagels. These have good cheese and some tomato sauce as a topping (but the tomato sauce is dried on). They are so rich that they hardly qualify as bagels anymore, but I'm very fond of them. I soaked myself in the bath as soon as I got home. It did feel good. But I found I didn't have the frankincense oil, and the lavender was gone! So I poured some lavender body spray in, instead. I sent mail to vanguard-disc, suggesting that folks should take an opportunity for viewing the perseid meteors this weekend. But Kate warned us that the viewing conditions won't really be that great! The moon is almost full, so until very late at night the meteors will be washed out. |
