Home AgainThat's the one thing about being a writer. It's very redemptive. All your experiences get recycled and reused. Even if they were a failure at the time, they become an experience you can draw on when you begin to create. Monday, August 21, 2000 Jack was in so late last night, after the dead viking party, that I let him sleep, and took a cab to the station. I wanted to make sure the cab could find me, so I told them to come to the corner of the two streets that face the townhouse block. The parking lot might have been too tricky for them to find! Of course I had the cab come too early, and I was waiting outside early! I think the summer weather is breaking up -- it was quite cool in the dawn light. On the ride south, I read Bujold's A Civil Campaign. I know I bought the hardcover of this pre-Potlatch, but now I can't find it! So I bought the paperback at the grocery store last week. It's truly fun! Lots of humor, big set-piece farce scenes, and true emotion. Bujold dedicates the book to Jane [Austen], Charlotte [Bronte], Dorothy [Dunnet], and Georgette [Heyer]. All grand authors, in case you haven't read them. The 263 local bus that I take to work arrived within a minute of me walking up to the bus shelter. I'm glad I didn't miss it!
Chip arrived at the office with visiting relatives, from his wife's side of the family, I believe. Both his folks and his wife's visit often! I'm sure enjoys it, but he's torn about leaving the office when he has so much he wants to accomplish on the website. Despite the chilly morning, it turned into a gorgeous day. |
