Service

I don't even like old cars... I'd rather have a goddam horse. A horse is at least human, for God's sake.

I got a call from Brad at Fame Automotive mid-day. He had a number of things that should be done to the car, but most were normal service items. There wasn't evidence of anything gravely wrong with the car. I told him to go ahead and do the stuff, since the car was already there. Who knew how long it might take me to get the car in for service again?

The first check engine light was due to "gas cap open". They put the code in for that, then it came on again, something more serious about air filter level out of spec, so I'll let the used car dealer take care of that. (They agreed to this in writing when I bought the car.

The plugs were the originals, and should have been changed at 30k, so I told them to change them. The fuel filter also. The "pollen" filter (climate control filter) shocked them, it was so full of dirt (and leaves!) The left rear tire was worn. They suggested buying two new ones, and moving the ones in the front to the back. There were also some fluids that needed changing.

It wasn't convenient for anyone to give me a ride over there before they closed, so I'll pick it up at lunchtime tomorrow.

Of course, Jack felt that I should have left most of this for him to do, rather than spend money to have it done!

On the Webgrrls NWR (non-web-related) list, someone was asking about fun places for bowling, skating or miniature golf. Willows Run Golf Course was mentioned, so I piped up.

I've played there twice. My boss likes to take us on excursions, and our office is right there on Willows Road.

It's gorgeous! beautifully landscaped, and the holes are a good variety and challenging enough. In fact, it's a bit tougher than regular putt-putt type golf, because there aren't wooden barriers around the greens -- it's possible to hit your ball too far.

It's not cheap, but it's fun!

Many folks in journal-land are concerned about Yahoo taking over Webring.org. This happened a while ago, but the effects are begin felt now. I know I don't get much traffic via the two rings I belong to (check out the OFTEN ring, if you haven't before), but I hope I get some! Anyway, I'm sure there will be changes there.
