I mistakenly wrote to Jack that next Monday would be a holiday for me. It is a legal holiday (Columbus Day) but the stock market isn't closed, so I'll be working after all.
I also wrote to check in, to see how he was doing in this crisis with his daughter A----. This situation is really not good. He did reply with a few words.
Thinking about their interactions reminded me of Suzette Hayden Elgin's books on Verbal Self Defense. I'm sure it wouldn't fix problems, but it might change the interaction. When people are locked in a ritual that they repeat over and over, just changing the lines one person says might help.

I posted a recommendation to the Seattle Swing Chat list, because we still have room in Viola Spencer's class that I'm taking on Tuesdays. Also, that list could use some traffic! I have no idea how many folks are subscribed these days, but they are all very silent, if they are out there.
At work, we are all trying to learn the build process again. Chip will be out of town during the latter part of the week, and we all need to know all the arcane steps and incantations that allow us to get the site updated with current data.
Once again I didn't go dancing. It's difficult to get myself out of the house once I'm home.
