Greenwood Dance
We teachers can only help the work going on, as servants wait upon a master.

Two years ago: Costume Party
I'd arranged last night to carpool to the dance tonight, at Sonny's in Greenwood. Mark and Holly would give me a ride, along with another woman who lives over by Providence Hospital, south of Capital Hill.
I knew that Tacoma Tony was supposed to be DJing, so I was surprised when I saw Jonathan there at the beginning. Turned out he was supposed to be teaching the lesson! I hadn't been to wild about the lesson the previous week, but Jonathan is one of my favorite teachers. So when he asked people to raise their hands if they wanted a lesson to be taught, I raised mine. But only one other man joined me in that. So Jonathan said he'd go get some copies made, and give us private lessons later.
I had a good time dancing, with folks I knew and some folks who I'd not met before. The floor is very smooth there! And the mirrors are good, though I try not to watch myself constantly. That would distract me from my partner! One of the highlights was seeing Jen Paur "Superstar"! I'd run into her last night at the Century, and several people had urged her to come dancing tonight also. She'd moved to Canada a year ago -- no wonder I hadn't noticed her around recently! She was wearing the only Halloween costume to be seen tonight -- a ladybug, very cute.
By the time Jonathan got back, I'd forgotten about his offer of a semi-private lesson. When reminded, I opted for just dancing with him. I thought a moment, then came out with "Of course, I could say something about how dancing with you is always very educational!" and we both giggled.
It was nice riding with Mark and Holly, but they wanted to leave earlier than I would have otherwise (I knew this going in). There are a good chunk of dancers who don't even show up until ten o'clock! Oh, well, there will be other weeks.
