Pride and Prejudice

Nothing is more deceitful than the appearance of humility. It is often only carelessness of opinion, and sometimes an indirect boast.

After I got home tonight, Jack sent me email to say that he was still at work. I hadn't heard otherwise, so I didn't really expect to see him this evening (though I'd have been glad to). He wrote:

"Thanks for not getting mad about tonight. I am dealing with this really knotty bug and I don't want to stop 'cuz I would have to redo a lot of thinking to pick it up on Monday."

Do I have a bad temper? I don't think so. I was surprised that Jack was concerned about this. I would like to plan some things more in advance, but I understand how that can be difficult for Jack to manage. I don't remember the last time I was really angry with him. I am a fairly patient person, I guess, but I think Jack is normally very considerate of me and treats me well.

I'd originally intended to go to Friday night practice, but instead I put my laserdisc of Pride and Prejudice. I do enjoy this adaptation! There are really very few flaws, the cast is great (Colin Firth the best) and the production values are high. What a luxurious feeling to curl up on the couch under a blanket, and let myself doze off. I'll confess I did sleep a bit during the Mr. Collins sequences.

There's a new swing message board for Seattle, on Delphi! Seattle Swing has gotten off to a good start, but I wonder if there will be enough discussion to sustain it? Check it out, and maybe you should post something?
