Catching Up

May we agree that private life is irrelevant? Multiple, mixed, ambiguous at best-out of it we try to fashion the crystal clear, the singular, the absolute, and that is what is relevant; that is what matters.

Three years ago: Orycon I

PINE barfed on me this morning when I was trying to send mail to Jack, so my mailbox (viewed through telnet) was read-only for the rest of the day. Annoying! I was able to download mail when I connected from home, though.

We had a company outing for lunch, with Rex Takasugi, one of our columnists who happens to be local. Both Kellie and I had to have it explained to us that this was a company outing. Chip thought it was obvious, since Rex came over to meet Bob and get updated on what's been going on with StockCharts.com, but he and Rex have gone to lunch on their own sometimes before.

I drove Rex and Kellie. Rex said he feels odd about reading this journal (but can't resist, I guess), but I don't mind at all. I post so people can read! We joked about finding a way to link to this journal in his column. We talked about Kellie's plans for a personal site of her own.

I hadn't been to this restaurant before: Tony Roma's. I liked the food, especially the honey-mustard sauce that I think was intended for the chicken strips that came with my rib combo.

Just as I was getting ready to start on the xml project, Chip asked me to compose an email to send to some prospective guest columnists, so I switched over to that. Any one have something to say about technical analysis?

I got some groceries on the way home. I'm addicted to that Kaukana salsa and cream cheese dip right now, and it seems to only be found at Safeway. I don't know why I get these cravings, but I think it's ok to indulge them. I never seem to develope an unnatural urge to eat celery sticks, though.

Tonight they were working on the fiber-optic cable that was recently buried beneath the sidewalk next to my building. Maybe it hadn't really been rained on until now? Loud noises, pumping, drilling, hissing, roaring. And there are bright lights shining through the blinds, like a UFO is landing right outside! This all makes it difficult to concentrate, so I wandered out to the living room and actually watched TV. I did do some notes-only journal entries after the workmen went away, which was the catching up mentioned in today's title.
