SONW Meeting

We always carry out by committee anything in which any one of us alone would be too reasonable to persist.

I woke up early, around seven thirty, I showered, and left around eight thirty. I should have let Jack sleep instead of waking him to kiss him goodbye, but I couldn't bring myself to it.

It was a nice drive, with MacDonalds steak bagel and a large diet coke. I could skip the hashbrowns without any regret, though. I know Kymm is very fond of them, but they didn't taste that great to me. I just got them because they were part of the breakfast combo, but I don't think I saved any money, really. I cranked my Cecilia Bartoli CD up loud! Mozart and Rossini make good road music. I even tried to croak a few notes. My voice isn't that bad, but it's certainly rusty!

I got home in time to stop by my place and pick up a few mugs, needed for instructors at dance camp.

This afternoon we had a committee meeting for dance camp, which is why I left Portland so early. I was early for the meeting, but sat listening to the radio outside until the actual scheduled time. Once the meeting got going, I mostly listened to the other volunteers. When it was my turn to talk about the newsletter, I did have info on the general concept of a daily news zine (new to most), and the copying services available in Port Townsend (but I still need to call for prices and hours). I got good ideas on how to get material, and some useful suggestions on content.

The most surprising thing to me was a political controversy -- some folks wanted to work on something that was already assigned to someone else (who wasn't there). Who will bell the cat? Steve will speak to this person and negotiate it. Glad it isn't me!

This evening there was a dance at the Century Ballroom, with a live band, Hot Town Jubilee. I knew they were fast, which was ok, but something was off for me in the sound mix, or the steadiness of the tempos. Others enjoyed it a lot! There was performance by Tanya's group, the Rain City Rugcutters, or at least three couples of them. I danced with John, Titus, and Bryan Lynch.

I must not have been in the mood for dancing -- others enjoyed the group, so I'm sure they were good. I was ready to leave early, so I got a ride home from Mark and Holly.
