Unbreakable
He is the hero, he is everything. He must be a complete man and a common man and yet an unusual man. He must be, to use a rather weathered phrase, a man of honor, by instinct, by inevitability, without thought of it, and certainly without saying it. He must be the best man in his world and a good enough man for any world.

One year ago: Fatigue
Two years ago: A Day at Home
Three years ago: Keep On Working
After the late night yesterday and rampaging around, I woke up at a reasonable hour, got my things together, and hit the road. I arrived in Bellingham around lunchtime, bringing croissants that I got at Costco yesterday.
Jack and I decided to go see Unbreakable. Because of the crowds, I ended up parking at the far end of the lot. Jack didn't care for that, but next time he can drive, so there. We got into the theater during the previews.
What an odd tale! I quite understand the people who complained about the characters' constant whispering. I wasn't crazy about it, I'll admit, but there is a lot to talk about afterwards. Symbolism, but what does it mean? The ending confrontation, then a quick Dragnet-stylee wrap up, was a bit jarring.
After the film, Jack had time to play Hydro Thunder (his current favorite), then we sampled some games at the arcade down the way. We walked through the mall on the way back to the car, stopping at the poster store and Sears. I bought green teatherapy shower gel and lotion. We examined the copycat talking fish -- there were two! Tony Trout, and some other piscatorial performer.

Where to eat? How about an Indian place Jack's tried before, that was in the neighborhood. Very plain decor. Family owned. Middleaged man and woman (man and wife) waiting on us. Who was cooking, I wonder? We got the package dinner. Did that save us any money? I doubt it. But we got dessert included with the tandoori chicken, lamb curry, samosas, and vegetable. We were stuffed!
Costco wasn't not too busy, since we were there about fifteen minutes before closing. Jack bought a phone card, and a few other odds and ends.
Let's go to Wal*mart! Jack was definitely in present-buying mode. I can't give too many details, though I don't think his daughters read this. But I saw the same shower gel and lotion that I bought at Sears, and of course it was a few dollars cheaper.
Finally we drove back to Jack's place and relaxed.
