Making the Veil
The creative person wants to be a know-it-all. He wants to know about all kinds of things: ancient history, nineteenth-century mathematics, current manufacturing techniques, flower arranging, and hog futures. Because he never knows when these ideas might come together to form a new idea. It may happen six minutes later or six months, or six years down the road. But he has faith that it will happen.

This afternoon, I walked down to Broadway, to do some shopping at Fred Meyer. The scent place looks like they are having hard times, or changing direction! I can see they've moved merchandise around to fill in empty spaces, and have many fewer scented oils available. I'd be sorry to see them go.
Fred Meyer did have the velcro I needed to complete my headpiece. I've been covering a headband with flowers and stuff, and I'll use velcro to attach the actual veil part. I like how it's turning out! I
also wandered around and found stuff I'd like to get for Jack's place. I decided to put off those purchases until I'm at the Fred Meyer in Bellingham, though.
As I walked into the store, someone called my name -- a couple that lives in my building. I was so oblivious that I'd walked
right past them! Then I met Kevin Tamura, a dance buddy. I showed
him how I'd picked out a new flashlight because there was a space
for it in the Junk Drawer organizer I got recently, and we both
laughed.
Then, as I was walking to the other end of the mall, my movie
buddy Yoko said hi! She's off work because the Seattle Times
hasn't called her back yet after the strike, so she was hanging
out and talking to her friend that runs the Bliss soap stand.
I ended up buying a grab bag of various sorts that had been
cut off by mistake.

At home, I couldn't wait to work on my veil. I trimmed corners of the tulle yardage into a rounded shape.
Then I folded it over, and sewed a gathering stitch along the to, then pulled
the thread to gather it into a veil. I sewed the "hook" side of
the velcro onto the illusion netting, and glued the "loop"
side onto the underside of the headband, which I've previously
decorated with flowers and beads and pearl loops.
Shazam! it looks so nice! I went ahead and put on the fancy dress and veil, and admired myself in the mirror. I should have been
wearing the shoes, too.
